Not enough people drift in sim, so I want to change this by taking my experience and handing it on.
Qualifications (which are negotiable so pm me):
Stock corolla: You should have a stock corolla as its one of the few cars in game where you can use every drift technique to drift. That, and if you can drift each technique in a corolla there isn’t a single car in game you can’t drift.
No balancers will be used, and no upgrades. It is preferred you have a joystick, mouse, or steering wheel to drift but if you can demonstrate smooth driving with a keyboard then you can be admitted. Its best to have racing pedals but settings can be adjusted as needed for keyboard users.
Stock Stallions are another possibility but stock corolla users will come first. The stallion is a little stiffer than a stock corolla but you can perform all the drifting technique mentioned.
Later on I might open a class for Rex, Rx-7, if demand is there. However its best to learn on an underpowered car with lots of torque, like the corolla.
Level 16+ You cant be an entirely new person to the game. It is important you have been around enough to have access to maps. You can however be new to the corolla it wont affect your training.
Teamspeak or Ventrilo: I have both, and you have to have one. I prefer teamspeak but if you only want to ventrilo that is fine. All lessons are verbal, I refuse to type instructions when I can perform the drift real time and talk or coach you.
Must be open minded I refuse to teach someone who will not listen to what I have to teach them. It is a waste of my time to do so and other could be learning in your place. So do as I suggest and you will see you too can drift.
An example of this would be continuously using a ebreak when we are working on break drifting. I can tell which method you are using to drift when I am following you, so you cant hide it
Ask DaDrifter he can attest to this.
Time You should have at least an hour for the first lesson, techniques not covered can be covered later. You should also be able to drift an hour a day in practice mode.
What you will learn:
Drift techniques:
Fient
Breaking Drift (3 kinds)
Power Over
Inertial Drift
clutch kick
Scandinavian flick (though it shouldn’t be used on a corolla)
ebreak
The first lesson will cover each of these drifts and normally this lesson is an hour to two hours long.
Homework after this lesson is to drift touge as much as you can for a week. Completion is the ability to prove you can drift touge without failing all the time and the ability to know which drifts you are performing. Different lines call for different drift technique which we will cover.
Homework for first lesson is to also grip race touge as much as you can in a week alternating with drifting. So you grip a day, then drift a day, or grip an hour, take a break, then drift an hour. All of this is done in practice mod e on infinite laps.
The second lesson will teach you the techniques you previously learned to drift one lane, out side or inside lanes, on the touge map. Homework will be a week to two weeks and will be complete when you can demonstrate you can single lane drift outside and inside lanes.
The final homework will be to lane shift in a drift. Example: starting on the outside lane, going to inside then back to outside. Or starting inside going out then back in. Also at this point depending on your abilities you might also opt to learn the four wheel formula 1 drifting technique for use in grip racing.
By this time you should really know your stuff and actually be able to pass people in a drift or avoid an obstacle in a drift.
Further study would entail drifting with others in tandem, something you will practice for a long time before you master.
I have had several students already. All of them have been satisfied with the level of attention given them and all of them continue to improve.
If you wish to sign up the best thing to do is PM me with times you are available. Give me your time in GMT offset. So an example is EST = -5GMT, look it up if you don’t know. Also tell me which car you have if not a corolla, and which method you use to steer and break, shift, and accelerate.
Each student will be given a list of other students to practice with. This is the biggest gripe right now as they keep complaining about not having enough people to drift with. You will be welcome to use my TS or Vent when you are drifting as well so long as you are in the right channel.
So this is what I have to offer. I hope to get at least one taker. I have had 2 students in corollas already, one in a stallion and one in a rx7. I prefer rolla students though so spend the best $7 of your life on this car and not a crappy movie you wont enjoy for more than 2 hours.
